Qualifications

          With a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration and his years as an Army Officer, Glenn Hess has the education and experience to oversee the administration of the State Attorney’s Office.

          While on active duty, Glenn Hess was assigned a series of jobs in addition to his duties as a helicopter pilot.  From overseeing a mess hall in Vietnam to having responsibility for all of the equipment and facilities at Hunter Army Airfield, his military assignments provided the practical experience to prepare him to oversee an office having an $8 million budget.  Attending Auburn University, he majored in public administration while continuing his military services as a medical evacuation pilot and training officer with the Alabama National Guard.

          In 1979 Glenn Hess graduated from law school having done internships with the Florida Senate and the State Attorney’s office in Leon County.  Hired as an Assistant State Attorney in Panama City, he prosecuted felony cases for four years until he opened a law office on Panama City Beach.  Among his clients were two sheriffs and a number of police officers and deputies needing legal representation.

          Elected Circuit Judge in 1994, Glenn Hess has presided over hundreds of felony trials giving him unique insight into the courtroom side of our criminal justice system.  This experience provides Glenn Hess with the knowledge and ability necessary to improve the operation of our State Attorney’s Office.

          Having been a leader in our armed services, a team player as an assistant state attorney, a successful private attorney and a respected judge, Glenn Hess has the integrity, the knowledge, and the experience to build one of the best State Attorney’s offices in Florida.
